- Bell's Palsy
- SYMPTOMS. Bell's palsy may begin with pain behind the ear and within a few
- hours there will be weakness on one side of the face, partial facial
- paralysis, difficulty in eating or speaking, loss of the ability to smile
- and to close the eye on the affected side.
- CAUSES. The cause is not known at this time but it may involve an injury to
- or pressure on the facial nerve that controls expression. The disease is an
- inflammation of this facial nerve.
- TREATMENT. Physical therapy and electrical stimulation may be prescribed.
- .Patching or medicated eye drops may be prescribed.
- .With medical help, complete recover is likely within several months.
